The Don Polo Mexican Cuisine food truck will be set up at the market that day, so come hungry!

RSVP: Not required

There will be no agenda…no planning of events…no protests…just a group of people who want to get to know others within our community who are empathetic to issues of social justice without feeling the pressure to commit to volunteering at an event or showing up at a protest. We just want to know who our T-County allies are and maybe make a few new friends, so mark your calendar now and make plans to join us at each of the following places on the specified dates.

Follow the Citizens for Racial Justice & Reform – Tuscarawas County on Facebook and Instagram in case the details of any of these events should change.

Dover City Park Storywalk

25 May 2022

Dover City Park Storywalk

March 2022

Members donated to sponsor "Ron's Big Mission" by Rose Blue, which tells a story of astronaut Ron McNair's childhood in segregated South Carolina, and how a righteous act of defiance started him on a courageous path toward a career at NASA - and having that library, in addition to other buildings, named after him.

We selected this book because none of us can afford to forget the injustices of the past. If we do, we might be willing to overlook the injustices happening in the present. Even at nine years old, Ron McNair used his voice to make his community a better place, simply by insisting that he be issued a library card. We encourage all residents of Tuscarawas County to be as brave and determined as Ron.

Dover City Park Storywalk

January 2021
Dover, OH

Members donated to sponsor "Before She was Harriet" by Lesa Cline-Ransome and illustrated by James Ransome for the StoryWalk at the Dover Pond. "Before She was Harriet"  details the extraordinary life of Harriet Tubman as a suffragist, a Union spy, and a liberator following the stars.

Dover City Park Storywalk

August 2020
Dover, OH

Members donated to sponsor "The Day You Begin" by Jacqueline Woodson and illustrated by Rafael Lopez for the StoryWalk at the Dover Pond. "The Day You Begin" is about moments in a child's life when s/he feels like an outsider. Through sharing stories and experiences, we all discover we are more alike than we think.

We selected this book because, as Jacqueline Woodson writes, "There will be times you begin to share your stories."  We encourage all residents of Tuscarawas County to listen to each other's stories, because we all have more in common than we think.  As stated in our Vision Statement, Citizens for Racial Justice and Reform strives for: "A Tuscarawas County where all residents are free to reach their fullest potential in racially equitable and empowering spaces."  This is a long-term goal, but one way we can all move toward it is by finding common ground where we previously thought there was none.
